Paul: Loomis-Chaffee School & Columbia University

Working with Caitlin helped me gain admittance to one of the most competitive schools out there, Columbia, while retaining my integrity. Caitlin is always extremely supportive, knows her students and especially understands the thin line between counseling and intervening in/altering the application. The first day working together, Caitlin told me that I would get into Columbia… which I did. Without Caitlin I wouldn’t be where I am now, so I’m extremely grateful.

I can’t thank Caitlin enough for all that she’s done for me not just during the college application process but also as a teacher, a mentor and a dear friend. I feel as if I was one of the anomalies among my senior friends because my application process was relatively stress and pain-free, and the major reason was the fact that Caitlin had me start the process the spring of my junior year in high school. Starting around March, she told me to just start writing - no matter what it was, I just started writing about anything that I liked. From writing about my boarding school experience, to writing about a leaf that I saw on the street… Most of the pieces I wrote during this time ended up not being in my application, but they were essential to developing a feel for what an essay should be like, developing the skills and the vocab and the personal style that would later on establish my personality on paper and writing to show the world and, certain enough, admissions officers.

Caitlin is extraordinarily smart, and I mean this in every sense of the word. She developed an essay system that allows her students to do utilize their productivity and writing. I’m quite sure at some point I told Caitlin she should have the system patented; I hope she’d take heed one day. We met weekly during the summer leading up to my senior year, which made senior fall a breeze to go through for me. She was always punctual, professional, sometimes brutally honest but unfailingly kind and patient. A note to future students: don’t be late to these weekly meetings. If you are you’d better have a really believable excuse.

Working with Caitlin during my college application process has been one of ethics, transparency and growth. It was a perfect balance of practicality and creativity. Amid the noise of college counseling buzzing around me, I was incredibly grateful to work with a counselor who was interested in more than getting me to A school with a B amount of money. I found out more about myself during this writing-intense, introspection-heavy process than I ever have, and I wouldn’t have done with any other counselor than Caitlin.

A warning: usual side effects of first encountering Caitlin include slight delirium from overwhelming intellectual awesomeness and spontaneous conviction as well as compulsion to save the world.

I met Caitlin during one of the most difficult times I’d ever been through. I was lost, not really knowing what I wanted, whether I wanted to college in America or to go to college at all. It’s fair to say that the life I have now—exponentially better in all aspects that count—hinged on the moment in which she came into it.

During the whole daunting college process—the many SAT drills, essays, and some hair pulling on my part—Caitlin never let me give up on myself, and that was exactly what I needed. She is unwavering in her optimism, but I can also count on her to always tell me if I’m not giving it my best. This no-nonsense attitude is exactly why I continually seek out her opinions on many issues—personal, work-related, or otherwise—long after our teacher-student relationship has supposedly ended. Now, years after working together with her on my college application, I still come to her when I need to be pointed in the right direction, and I trust her more than anyone to give me exacting and critical feedback on my writing.

A few summers ago, I came back from my first year in college to intern for Caitlin as a TA. Her warmth and enthusiasm did not change just because I was her employee, and neither did her exacting standards. I’m glad that I had the opportunity to continue learning from her, and I’m supremely proud, beyond what words can convey, to have her as a friend.

Colston: Middlebury College

Caitlin Worsham is one of the most involved, caring people I have ever met and it has been one of the great joys of my young adult life to have her guidance throughout the college application process. As a counselor, Caitlin is meticulous and personable; she spent countless hours helping me. Each of Caitlin’s many tips and suggestions was made with my unique interests in mind, and I honestly feel that her understanding of my personal wants and desires helped me to find direction in an otherwise stressful phase of my life.

Even after my applications were officially complete, Caitlin frequently checked in on me to make sure that I met all of my deadlines and achieved to my fullest potential. It is this tireless devotion to her students that really separates Caitlin from other college counselors. Every time I got bogged down in the daunting application process, Caitlin encouraged me with her infectious positivity, and when I finally began to receive acceptance letters, she was the first to elatedly call and congratulate me for my success. I have come to view Caitlin Worsham as a lifelong friend and I will forever be grateful for the time she spent pushing me to work just a little bit harder.

My Linh: The Hill School & UNC Chapel Hill Morehead-Cain Scholarship

I would like to thank Caitlin for supporting me throughout the essay composing process and helping me best describe myself in writing to colleges. Her knowledge of the admission process as well as her ability to improve personal essays are invaluable and I don’t think I could have had such great help anywhere else. Even at a top-notch boarding school like the one I go to, students are not advised individually on their essays. Caitlin makes it simple and easy to get essays done well and on time.

My senior year has definitely been very manageable unlike that of most of my friends because of Caitlin’s help and advice to get essays started the summer after my junior year. I am confident that Caitlin will be of great help to students looking for an edge in the college admissions process.

Tom: Eton College & Princeton University

Caitlin was an absolute pleasure to work with. She was diligent and approachable, and helped guide me through the tough college application process. Her experience proved invaluable for me as she pushed me time and time again not only to become a better writer, but also to help me earn a place at some of the most prestigious universities in the world. I would happily work with Caitlin again and would highly recommend her to anyone!

Cat: Princeton University

When I was applying to college in the States, I sought help because I specifically wanted objective and professional advice on my essays. I was put in touch with Caitlin, and she has since become both a friend and a teacher to me. I could freely discuss any ideas for the prompts with her, and she treated me like an adult by respecting my views and opinions. We had many long conversations about myself, thoughts and dreams to cultivate ideas together. After finishing any essay, I would send it to Caitlin to receive her critical comments, but of course, any changes were up to me...I grew a lot both as a person and as a writer from being guided by an expert while writing my own essays.
